The first of the three Total War: Warhammer games has been released on May 24, 2016. Since then, players have experienced a few game-crashing issues during multiplayer campaigns. The biggest and the most common one is the freeze and crash error that occurs at the end of high turns.The developers are aware of the issue and are currently working on the hotfix, which should be out with the next patch. Before the patch arrives, the community has come up with other temporary solutions on how to avoid the crashes. Here they are:
Edit - actually it does work. I started a new campaign, and on turn 1 I was able to open a battle successfully without crashing. Also, on turn 2 I saved the game as "Ottoman" and it works! So maybe this fix does work after all. But you have to start a new campaign.

Thanks for this mod in the first place, after 17 turns when i play a land battle, (previously save with only latin letters) crash to desktop. Restart the game and i can't load any save, all of them are damage, any help is appreciated.
been having an issue where the game crashes during the end turn, first as Austria in a 60 turn game and then as Russia in a 10 or 20 turn game. tends to crash at a specific point in the end turn: in my Austria game, it crashes on Poland-Lithuania. in my Russia game, it crashes on Austria. no idea what causes it, no CTD message, nothing.
The small average faction size forces you to make annoying choices that go against the central point of the game. Exploring the map and setting up trade routes will give you money, but it will also open up more parts of the map. This means the game will be slowed down even further with more tedious AI moves each turn. You can turn off the option to watch AI movement, but that gives you less important information. You can refuse to set up trade routes, but that gives you less money. At one point I found myself taking off my headphones, walking to the sink, and doing a few dishes after every turn. Rome II: great for doing household chores!
Because of this random nature, any given turn can have different results even if replayed. If you end a turn you may see Faction X declare war on Faction Y or Faction Z break its treaties with you. You could even see another faction offer some random agreement that turn. If you go back and load the save and end turn again, you could easily see completely different things happen. Some of the same may happen, none of it may happen, or totally different results may occur. These differences are the essence of the random nature of Rome 2.
For Rome Total War 2 try and play on extreme settings. The game will possibly scale your graphics down automatically if needed. I played on very high for most of my game, still had tons of bugs & crashed at least once a day. Put the settings to medium and had it far worse. I had a battle that made the sky, ground, my units turn white and it was so laggy and patchy i couldn't even play I exited put my settings to max (I have a monster pc but lame VGA since I planned to upgrade soon) voila!
Armies and navies have changeable stances on the campaign map. Stances determine factors such as total movement points per turn or the ability to deploy traps for an ambush. The "Forced March" stance allows an army to march further, but will tire out its soldiers, reducing their fighting ability and leaving them vulnerable to ambush; the "Defensive Stance" enables fortifications such as stakes or redoubts and the "Ambush Stance" enables traps such as fireballs and sulphur pits. Armies and fleets can contain a maximum of 20 units and must have a general or admiral to lead them. A faction's power, or "imperium", determines the number of armies it can raise. A faction can gain more imperium by conquering more regions or acquiring more gold. Players can also name units in an army and change their emblems.[10]
If Total War: Rome II often crashes to the desktop, try to reduce quality of the graphics. It is possible that your PC just does not have enough performance and the game may not work correctly. Also, it is worth to check out for updates - most of today's games have the automatic patches installation system on startup if internet connection is available.
