The consumer-oriented Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10 easily outclassed its competitors in our recent lab test (see Labs, Shopper 271) -vegas-movie-studio-hd-platinum-10-0. Vegas Pro is the flagship version, and comes with unlimited tracks, more effects, advanced text animation, surround-sound mixing and support for professional camera formats such as XDCAM and Red One. Platinum 10 was a major update, though, and Vegas Pro 10 has its work cut out to justify its tenfold-higher price.
Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9, released in August 2008, continues to focus on easyvideo editing and DVD creation (www.sonycreativesoftware.com/moviestudio).The higher-end Platinum Edition adds expanded HD video support (HDV, AVCHD),and burning to menuless Blu-ray Disc. And the Pro Pack bundle includesSound Forge Audio Studio 9 plus additional libraries of sounds and effects.

Sony's consumer products trade off these names, but under the Home Studio brand, as in Vegas Movie Studio, Sound Forge Audio Studio, and ACIDMusic Studio (www.sonycreativesoftware.com/homestudio). Sony offers trial versions as downloads from its website.

Thanks again. Just wanted to let you know that my old Vegas 10 platinum vf projects work fine on Vegas 18 Pro. Rendering is fine. Vegas 18 captured all my settings. I have been using several standard sony plug-ins and some text. The plug-in editors are different (better) and they work. 2ff7e9595c
